My Sister's Wedding Cake
This is the wedding cake that I made for my sister in 2011. The theme of the wedding was fern leaves and orchids and I have replicated this by piping a large white fern leaf on each tier and making fern leaves and orchids for the sugar flower sprays. Raspberry pink gerberas, eucalyptus leaves and white blossoms are also in the sprays. I used a real orchid to make my own template to match the orchids in my sister's bouquet.
On her wedding day, my sister had to keep telling people to go back and have 'another look' at the cake as they didn't realise that the flowers were made of sugar and thought they were fresh flowers!
The flower sprays are wired and are therefore not edible. The sprays can be removed from the cakes and kept as a keepsake for many years - I still have one of my flower sprays from my wedding cake which I made in 1995.
